What the tradition makes of a kua 1

The Deep Current

Your trigram is Kan, water, and the old books mean a river, not a puddle: calm on top, strong underneath, always moving even when it looks still. Tradition reads kua 1 people as the deep ones — you think before you speak, you keep going long after louder people have quit, and you get around obstacles the way water does, by finding the gap nobody else saw. The manuals put you in careers of insight: research, writing, strategy, counsel. Your patience is the asset; just remember that rivers still need banks, so give your persistence a direction.

East group means your four good directions all sit on the north–south–east–southeast side of the compass — the sunrise half, in the old shorthand.

So what do I actually do?

Desk: sit so your face points southeast while you work. That's your vitality direction; the old rule is simply "face your luck."
Bed: point the top of your head south when you sleep, the relationships-and-longevity direction. Can't rotate the bed? east (health) or north (calm) are the backups.
Feeling run down: east is your recovery direction, face it when you rest, put the reading chair on that side.
Big conversation coming: take the seat that faces north, your own trigram's seat. Steadiest ground in the room, says the tradition.
What to avoid: don't sleep or work facing southwest if you can help it, that's your worst direction. The other three bad ones (west, northwest, northeast) can keep the closets and the laundry.

Triage, not perfection: no real apartment clears all eight directions. Get the bed and the desk right and tradition calls it a win.
